Oil Pulling – 2 months in
Okay, so I had been reading a ton of articles on oil pulling since I had my root canal done. I decided I didn’t have anything to loose by trying it. First of all, you might be wondering what the heck it is.
It is an ancient homeopathic method for cleaning toxins out of your body from your mouth. It can make your teeth cleaner, stronger and whiter as well as heal infections in your mouth and help with bad breath and gingivitis.
How it’s done:
First thing in the morning, take a tablespoon of oil (olive, coconut) and swish it in your mouth for 20 minutes. I use coconut and swish while I am in the shower and getting ready in the morning. It seems like a long time, but it really goes by fast. You do want to swish lightly so your jaw doesn’t fall off though!
Keep in mind that not everyone will have the same results, but from what I have seen this really works! I had been oil pulling for just about a week when I noticed that my teeth felt stronger ( they used to hurt all the time). My gums, which had been inflamed and bleeding a lot, where looking healthier and hadn’t been bleeding at all. A tooth which had cracked and broken was starting to heal itself! It looks better every day.
About a month in, we went on vacation and I had to skip the oil pulling every morning. I kid you not, my mouth has never felt so dirty. I could not wait to get back just so I could get that squeaky clean feeling I get when I oil pull again.
Two months down and I am extremely pleased with the results. I would recommend oil pulling for anyone looking to make their mouth (and by extension their body) healthier or looking for a more natural way to clean their teeth. It also saves me money because I only have to use toothpaste about once a week while oil pulling. (Actually, I don’t even really need to do that since I have no yucky build up or food particles in my mouth with oil pulling)
